As November rapidly approaches and we begin to think about pumpkins, turkeys and snowflakes, Sanctuary for Families is already planning for the holiday season. We hope to make it possible for more than 2,500 clients to celebrate the holidays this year, and we need your help to do it! Sanctuary collects gifts for the thousands of clients we serve, aiming to give every adult, teen and child at least one holiday gift. Sanctuary needs help sorting, organizing and wrapping the amazing gifts that we receive. We would love to have you volunteer as a “Holiday Helper” in our Lower Manhattan office.
Sanctuary for Families
The Australian Women in New York (AWNY) is a non-profit organization, created as part of the social and cultural program within the Australian American Association. As a non-profit organization, revenues raised from our events are invested back into our members and donated to other non-profit organizations, as determined by our committee. AWNY has a rich history of volunteering with various organizations in New York. We have an opportunity to partner with Sanctuary for Families and to participate in various volunteering activities within this charity. Sanctuary for Families (SFF) is New York’s leading service provider and advocate for survivors of domestic violence, sex trafficking and related forms of gender violence. Every year, Sanctuary empowers thousands of adults and children to move from fear and abuse to safety and stability, transforming lives through a comprehensive range of services.
