WEDNESDAY, 3/8—IN CONVERSATION with SAMANTHA WILLS

‘We’re thrilled to co-host a very special International Women’s Day event with the American Australian Association—In Conversation with the spectacular writer, educator & creator Samantha Wills. The conversation with be hosted by Tania Yuki, Chief Marketing Officer at Comscore. This year, celebrate two Australian female founders and business leaders as we learn from their experiences as global entrepreneurs.
Join us for a lively discussion on entrepreneurship, navigating the ins and outs of the business world, and keeping your creativity alive. The discussion will be followed by a live Q&A session and networking drinks, with an opportunity to have Samantha sign your copy of her book, of gold & dust.

SUNDAY 3/12—UWS COFFEE with AWNY MEET-UP at BLUESTONE LANE

Join us for a casual coffee meet-up at the Bluestone Lane location on the UWS. We’ll gather there on Sunday, March 12th from 11 AM and we look forward to seeing old friends and meeting some new faces! All are welcome. Please RSVP on this FB event if you plan to join us.
SUNDAY 3/12—AUSSIE FAMILIES PLAY DATE – CENTRAL PARK

Our Aussie Families group are planning to have monthly events starting with 12 noon on March 12th at the playground next to Tavern on the Green, listen out for the Aussie accents. Families with little and big kids are all welcome. Little ones can play in the playground. Big kids can bring a ball or frisbee and play on the ‘green’. And adults can migrate to the pub as needed!
WEDNESDAY 3/15— EMOTIONAL TRANSITIONS OF MOVING TO NEW YORK WITH SUSIE LANG

The Emotional Transition of Moving to New York is one of AWNY’s signature events. We’re so pleased to be able to offer it in person this year. Join us to make some new connections and share your experiences of moving to and living in this wonderful city. We’ll meet in Manhattan from 6-8PM (Cammisa Markel, 30 Vesey Street, 14th Floor NY) tickets are $20 and light refreshments will be served. TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE HERE.
Susie Lang is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and a National Certified Counselor (NCC), working in Private Practice in NYC, since 2012. Susie has worked in the “helping” profession for 45 years, in Australia, the UK, and here in NYC. Her counseling experience spans over 25 years where she has offered support to clients experiencing Abandonment and Rejection Issues, Blended Family Relationships difficulties, Loss, Grief and Bereavement, Care Giving of a Loved One, Depression, Transitions, Relocation, and working toward Personal Growth and Development. She has felt an ongoing professional commitment to being alongside those who are looking for emotional healing, understanding, resilience, and support.
Being in the Australian community here in NYC since 2004, she recognized the need for support for those who have made the physical transition to NYC. She has been aware of the Emotional Transitions surrounding this move. She often speaks of feelings of isolation in this transition during this unfolding time of becoming acquainted with NYC life.

WEDNESDAY 3/15 — ‘THE FORT’ FILM SCREENING & FUNDRAISER
We’re excited to co-present the first U.S. screening of new Australian film THE FORT, along with our mates, Kate Dell’Aquila and Tarley Jordan, who are Aussie women in New York. Join us to help fundraise for domestic violence education and awareness at the Angelika Film Center in NoHo. Together we’ll watch the film and listen to a live Q&A facilitated by the Acting Australian Consul General, Karina Soltyszewski with Shaynna Blaze the film’s executive producer and co-founder of Voice of Change.
You may have heard of Shaynna Blaze, the Australian interior designer and television personality known for judging the TV show ‘The Block’. Shaynna founded Voice of Change, a non-profit that champions meaningful education about – and action against – domestic violence through the arts. In fact, $10 from the sale of each ticket will go directly to Voice of Change.

SUNDAY 3/19 — HUMMING PUPPY YOGA CLASS
Start the new year on the right path with some relaxing Sunday yoga. You’ll meet like-minded friendly Aussie women while supporting a fantastic Australian business Humming Puppy at their central Flatiron location.
All skill levels are welcome at this beginner class—called the Foundation Hum—which includes breathwork, foundational movement, and meditation. The space is heated to 80 degrees F and centered around a soundscape “hum” to enhance focus. The session will end with a soothing sound bath.
