AWNY members joined hundreds of guests at American Australian Association’s (AAA) Annual Benefit Dinner, which was hosted on September 20 at Cipriani Wall Street.
The night celebrated the partnership between the two nations, and also congratulated scholarship winners, alumni and their cutting-edge research.
Dignitaries, and veterans from both countries were also in attendance.
This year the Association honoree was Julie Sweet, Chair and CEO of Accenture who was introduced and awarded the honor by Jennifer Nason, Global Chair, Investment Banking, J.P. Morgan.
Honorable Chris Bowen, MP, Minister for Climate Change and Energy, was the special guest speaker. He was in New York to represent Australia at the annual gathering of Climate Week at the United Nations, and used his speech to address the leadership required from government to address climate change.
Guests were treated to performances by Nicole Scherzinger, and Australian R&B soul artist Mi-Kaisha, who is now based in New York. They also saw a preview of Australian musical Muriel’s Wedding which was recently part of a lab in the city has high hopes of paving the path to Broadway.
