Upcoming Event: Pub Choir’s Astrid Jorgensen

AWNY is thrilled to be hosting Astrid Jorgensen, the creative force behind Pub Choir, for a special event on 12 May. Hosted at the American Australian Association, this event promises a vibrant mix of music, storytelling, and inspiration.

During April and May, Astrid will be performing across the United States on her “Eyes Up” tour, so we are excited that she has made time for a special AWNY event!

A choral conductor, composer, entertainer, and now author, Astrid is known for her belief that everybody can sing: not well, but literally!

As the founder and director of Pub Choir, as well as its online counterpart, Couch Choir, Astrid has become a global leader in communal, accessible music-making.

With razor-sharp wit and infectious enthusiasm, Astrid has led hundreds of thousands of people worldwide in her signature improvised comedy music lessons.

Her work has drawn praise from icons including Mariah Carey, Kate Bush, KISS, Radiohead, and Sir Barry Gibb, and has been featured in outlets such as BBC World News, The New York Times, Vogue, and NPR. In 2025, she wowed Simon Cowell on America’s Got Talent, further cementing her international appeal.

Beyond the stage, Astrid’s impact is profound. Under her leadership, Pub Choir has raised more than $1 million for grassroots charities. A recipient of the Medal of the Order of Australia, she continues to inspire through her work and storytelling.

All attendees to our 12 May event will receive a copy of Astrid’s book, Average At Best.
