AWNY President Jacquelyn Drozdoff and Vice President Belinda Jackson were delighted to attend the opening of the Association’s new headquarters, the American Australian Association Murdoch Center, in NYC on the 14th of March, 2023.

The Center will serve as a meeting place for Australians and Americans to collaborate and strengthen ties and was made possible by the support of the Murdoch family and Pratt Foundation.

The evening launch featured a fascinating mix of esteemed guests across the Australian and American political, diplomatic, business, and community spheres. Numerous representatives for Australia’s mission to the United Nations were in attendance, as well as senior Consulate-General staff. Notable attendees included Rupert Murdoch AC, Lachlan Murdoch, Anthony Pratt, US Ambassador to Australia Caroline Kennedy, and Australian Ambassador to the US Arthur Sinodinos AO.

Guests were treated to a wonderful mix of performances from the Association’s Arts Scholars, brothers Ziggy and Miles on guitar, followed by Indigenous Arts scholar vocalist Mi-kaisha. They also enjoyed delicious Australian-inspired food by Relish Catering.

As a sub-committee of the American Australian Association, the Center provides an exciting new opportunity for Australian Women in New York to deliver events in a fabulous new central NYC location for our treasured community of Aussie and Kiwi women. Located at 600 3rd Avenue near the Australian Consulate-General and United Nations, the Center offers a flexible event space and state-of-the-art facilities, with spectacular panoramic views of Manhattan and original Indigenous art.
