Now that life feels ‘back to normal’ after COVID isolation, people are going all out to make this year’s Halloween a great family fun event. New York City and the surrounding suburbs have lots of great options, here are a few to check out:
Boo at the Zoo
Extremely popular event each year.

WHERE: Bronx Zoo, 2300 Southern Blvd., Bronx
AGES: All
WHAT: Come dressed in your Halloween best and enjoy magic, pumpkin carving demos, crafts, candy, Halloween show, costume parades, and more!
COST: Adults $39.95, children aged 3-12 $29.95, free for children two and younger. Advanced registration required.

Children’s Museum of Manhattan (CMOM) – Monster Bash WHEN: Throughout October
WHERE: Children’s Museum of Manhattan, 212 W. 83rd St., Upper West Side
AGES: All
WHAT: CMOM is throwing the biggest Monster Bash ever! Design monster cupcakes out of clay, create invitations for the party, hear some spooky monster tales, and make a monster buddy to join you on your wildest adventures throughout the Museum.
COST: $15 per person. Advanced registration required.
Children’s Halloween Festival at Bleecker Playground, Greenwich Village
WHEN: Sunday, October 23
WHERE: Greenwich Village, Bleecker Playground WHAT: This annual celebration begins with a toddler-friendly costume parade around the nabe to the Bleecker Street Playground, and includes face painting, craft tables, and trick-or-treating.

New York Annual Halloween Parade Greenwich Village WHEN: Monday, October 31, 6:30pm
WHERE: Greenwich Village, Sixth Avenue, between Spring and 16th streets, Greenwich Village
WHAT: The world’s most famous Halloween parade weaves through the streets of Greenwich Village once again. Freedom is the theme for the 2022 parade. Hundreds of puppets, musicians, dancers, and artists, and thousands of other New Yorkers in creative costumes march in the nation’s most wildly creative public participatory event in the greatest city in the world.
Brooklyn Bridge Park Harvest Festival
WHEN Saturday, October 22, 2022, 11:00am to 4:00pm
WHERE Brooklyn Bridge Park: Pier 6
WHAT: The 12th-annual harvest festival in Brooklyn Bridge Park. A fun procession kicks off the event, which includes arts and crafts, storytelling, lawn games, and more—plus A fabulous signature Brooklyn pumpkin patch.
COST: FREE
Halloween at Botanical Gardens
WHEN: Sunday, October 30, 2022, 12:00pm to 5:00pm
WHERE: Queens Botanical Garden
WHAT: Children are invited to show off their Halloween costumes as they walk the trick-or-treat trail at the Queens Botanical Garden. Enjoy live performances, including a magic show.
COST: included in admission price $6 adult, $4 kids .. you need to book tickets in advance.

Tribeca’s Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest
WHEN: Saturday October 29, 4:45 pm – 6:00 pm
WHERE: Washington Market Park, Greenwich Street between Duane and Chambers streets
WHAT: Washington Market Park hosts this annual free community event with trophies awarded in five pumpkin-carving categories: cutest, scariest, funniest, most realistic, and most creative. Bring your own pumpkin to enter, or just stop by with your family to enjoy the festive display!
COST: Bring your own pumpkin to enter competition otherwise free to watch/visit.
