The lovable Australian comic Ginger Meggs just turned 100 years old and the Australian Consulate in New York celebrated the big milestone with the help of the AWNY mums, dads, and kids.
The consulate hosted a ’party’ where the fifth artist of Ginger Meggs, Jason Chatfield, was interviewed and read aloud to the families who attended.

Ginger Meggs is Australia’s longest running comic strip, and many of the Australian/American children at the event including Leo Roberts (pictured above) had not heard of the Aussie legend because they have been in the USA most or all their life. AWNY families were delighted to be invited to the party and to read the comic book which was signed by Jason and gifted to each child.

The event was also attended by members of the Australian press, meaning that grandparents back in Australia were happily surprised to turn on their TV to see their children and grandchildren at the event in New York.
