AWNY’s community committee hosted its final coffee catch-up for 2021 this past weekend. We got started at an Aussie-inspired cafe named Little Collins on 3rd Avenue and 44th Street where we warmed ourselves up over coffee before heading out to take in the holiday windows and decorations that NYC does better than just about anywhere!
Thankfully we were able to commandeer the covered tables outside as there was a permanent line for one indoors. We all agreed it looks like a great spot to go back for brunch some time.
We then strolled up 5th Avenue to Rockefeller Center at 50th Street, managing to bustle our way past the crowds into a prime spot for a group photo in front of the tree.
Crossing the street to admire the fabulous windows at Saks, Cartier, Louis Vuitton and others (check out a list of NYC’s must-see holiday windows here), we made our way up to Grand Army Plaza and Central Park at 59th Street as we chatted about our plans for the holidays.
The group started to splinter off and some of us headed back down 6th Avenue as far as 42nd Street and Bryant Park to pop into the Christmas market.
We’re all looking forward to the first stroll of 2022 and hearing stories from those who are lucky enough to be heading back to Australia for the holidays!
In the meantime, keep your eyes on our social pages for details of our upcoming events — and have yourselves a happy and healthy holiday season! 🎄🦌

Interested in Volunteering with AWNY?
This past year has been one of comings and goings, and we’re looking for a handful of volunteers to join our team for 2022. Check out the details below:
- AWNY’s volunteer secretary is someone who supports the executive committee and the entire AWNY verse by managing meeting agendas and minutes, responding to email inquiries, and managing internal correspondence. Organization is their thing!
- Events team volunteers know how to have and plan a good time, and they coordinate AWNY’s annual calendar of fun NYC-focused events and happenings.
- Social Media volunteers live and breathe social. As members of our Communications committee, they run our social media accounts, by sharing great posts about Aussie life in NYC, events we are hosting, news from Australia, and more.
- Volunteers for our Mums and Dads group help our growing community out with advice on everything from navigating school enrollments, nanny recommendations, to arranging casual play dates around the city.
