Connect with Aussie Women on Emotional Transitions — Nov. 16th IRL Event

COVID-19 has rocked the boat for many Australian women living in New York and as a result we’ve been living through some pretty uncertain times.

Many of us have not been able to return home to visit our families and friends in Australia and we’re dealing with homesickness. Some have relocated to New York during these trying times, and are trying to form community during a time that has felt fairly isolated.

Whatever it is you are dealing with right now as an Aussie living in New York, AWNY is here to open up conversations and support connections in its upcoming event: Emotional Transitions on Tuesday, November 16, 2021. This will be an in-person indoors event, with a limited capacity of up to 18 people. Proof of vaccination will be required.

The discussions will be led by AWNY member and licensed Mental Health Counselor, Susie Lang (LMHC & NCC).

The session will be a chance to listen, share and support the emotional impact of being an Aussie living abroad during these trying times. It will be a “hands-on” experiential event, where courageous sharing and empathic listening are encouraged.

Join us to begin to explore experiences that are common to all of us:

  • Do you feel the struggles and isolation in NYC relocation?
  • Are you feeling homesick, missing all things familiar?
  • Have you felt trapped being in NYC throughout COVID?
  • Do I actually want to be here, when things feel so challenging?

During this small and intimate event,  Susie Lang will facilitate conversations about:

  • Emotional and psychological impact of relocation
  • Cultural shock
  • Definitive loss and ambiguous loss
  • The emotional impact of uncertain times during Covid-19.

Lang says it’s about: “The community, the conversation, the connection and the hope of healing.”

“Just imagine as the conversation continues. You won’t be alone in this.”
