The Uluru Statement from the Heart acknowledges and celebrates the ancient spiritual sovereignty of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and the rich spirituality of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples that continues to make a vital contribution to the diverse culture of Australia.
It also calls for The Makarrata Commission to be created which will oversee a process of truth-telling about Australia’s history and colonisation. Learn more about the Statement here.
Following on from AWNY’s successful Race & Discrimination Book Club series, we are offering an opportunity to gather on Monday, October 26 at 6:00pm ET – the anniversary of Uluru being returned to traditional owners – and have a yarn.
We’ll brainstorm things like how to talk with family members, how to shop Blak, and how to stay involved in a joyful and heartfelt way until the job is done.
