A Letter From AWNY Co-Presidents, October 2018

At this year’s AWNY Annual General Meeting in May 2018, Kate Lee and Toni Short were elected as Co-Presidents, as Belinda Jackson stepped down following her two-year tenure. In their first Co-Presidents’ update, Kate and Toni take the opportunity to express their gratitude to the dedicated and talented volunteers of AWNY, past and present:

To the fabulous women of AWNY,

THANK YOU

As we transition into a new year for the committee we collectively wanted to take a moment to say thank you.

Thank you to all those incredible ladies that served with us in the past few years and are now returning back to the motherland or simply taking their “spare time” in a different direction. AWNY would not be where it is without the steadfast commitment from our Past President Belinda Jackson, her incredible work elevating the AWNY brand and reaching new audiences, along with her comrade-in-arms, Vice President Natalie Austin.

As we move into the new year, we couldn’t be more excited, pumped and honored to be joining forces to co-lead as Presidents of AWNY for 2018 – 2019.

We are delighted to be supported in the executive team by newcomer Monica DeMartin in the role of Secretary.  If her Virgo star sign is anything to go by she will keep us both on the straight and narrow when it comes to paperwork, procedures and processes and we expect much, much more. Thank you Monica for taking a leap of faith with us on this journey and we look forward to getting to know you over the coming weeks and months.

Our collective goal is to really peel back the layers and dig into the mission of AWNY being of service in some way to every Aussie & NZ women at some point of their time in the Big Apple.

Whether you have been away from home for a week or a decade (or two) there is nothing more comforting than spending time with like-minded people who are connected at the heart by our strong heritage and roots.

We have so many incredibly talented, smart, funny, interesting and beautiful women in this network and we are confident we can all continue to learn, grow and support each other in a truly impactful way in the years ahead.

We look forward to getting to know every single one of you, which begins with understanding what lights you up and brings you joy each and every day (as well as learning your star sign at some point too!).

We want to truly bring this mission to life by creating a space for us all to connect, share and most of all belong.

If you’re reading this and are inspired to volunteer with AWNY, drop us a line. And if you’re new to New York or new to AWNY, you can find out more about us:
