Event in Review: AWNY Christmas Lunch 2017

Written by Sharon Jasprizza

Cheer, Chatter and Celebration at The Metropolitan Tower

The breathtaking views from the 30th floor of The Metropolitan Tower private restaurant provided the backdrop to the AWNY Christmas Lunch on Friday December 8th, 2017. Appropriately, we were surrounded by the inspiring company of our Aussie friends old and new, including Amber, who came all the way from Houston, Texas.

As with all AWNY events, it was a pleasure to meet with so many vivacious and friendly women, especially as they had ventured out on this cold New York day.

We were delighted to meet and welcome Berry Fanning, fiancé of Alastair Walton, the newly appointed Australian Consul-General to New York. We look forward to seeing more of Berry at future AWNY events.

Susie Lang, AWNY mover and shaker and a resident at The Metropolitan Tower, worked tirelessly with Tom McLoone, the General Manager, to accommodate such a delicious celebration. Tom’s staff was warm and attentive. I think I want to live with Susie!

AWNY President, Belinda Jackson, set the scene for our vibrant and progressive organization, with her warm welcome and engaging speech.

Our group of Australian women in New York has forged a long-standing reputation of being affable and inclusive.  If you’re not yet a member of AWNY, please consider joining or perhaps become involved with some of our activities. Our Meet and Greet program is an easy way of being connected with another like-minded Australian woman in New York.
