Just in time for the weekend, here is the AWNY Communications Team’s top picks for events in New York this month. We hope you have the chance to get along to one or more of these!

AWNY’s Private tour of the 9/11 Memorial is on June 7th at 6.00PM. The private tour will be followed by complimentary appetizers and drink specials at the Club Quarters Terrace. Tickets are $20 and are purchased on the evening, more information here.

Celebrate Brooklyn, the cultural program run in Prospect Park, starts Wednesday June 8th June and there are some great gigs on including Perth based musician Tame Impala. For info, tix and the event calendar, click here.

If you think you can manage a 10KM run, there’s still spots left for the New York Road Runners NY Mini 10K on Saturday June 11th at 8.00AM. It’s just for us girls and you’ll be running the traverse road of Central Park – always a pretty scene. Register via NYRR website.

Do you have a sweet disposition? If so, get along to see Aussie group Temper Trap perform next Thursday June 9th at Webster Hall. Tickets start at a very reasonable $38.00. Venue information and tickets available here.

If you haven’t been yet, get along to New York’s Iconic Jazz Age Lawn Party on June 11-12 at Governors Island. Tickets, info, getting there etc all here.

Ever seen the line of people camping out overnight on the west side of the Great Lawn in Central Park?  They’re lining up for the best seats at Summer’s Shakespeare in the Park performances. The Taming of the Shrew is performing now, tickets are free, and you can find additional details here.

AWNY Picnic in the Park! Get your best sack-racing, egg-and-spoon balancing, Mintie-and-Jaffa-scoffing kit on and join the wonderful AWNY and Australian Mums and Dad’s communities for our annual Picnic in Park on June 26th. It’s BYO all food and drinks and kicks off at 2pm at Norman’s Landscape at W 86th St in Central Park. Check out the Facebook event page for more info.
