The American Australian Association and Australian Women in New York invite our members and friends to join us for an intimate and private guided tour of the 9/11 Memorial and Museum.
The 9/11 Memorial commemorates the September 11, 2001 attacks, which killed 2,983 people, including ten Australians, and the World Trade Center bombing of 1993, which killed six people.
In the immediate aftermath of 9/11 and in the the days and weeks that followed – Association office staff and AWNY volunteers worked tirelessly to help find and locate registered missing persons through our community database; assembled a 24hr support group roster of health care and counseling professionals to provide support for those who were in need; established a WTC Australian Families Fund to offer financial support to the families of Australian victims; and through the donation of $100,000 from the 2001 Benefit Dinner provided to NYC’s Fund for Public Schools – WTC School Relief Fund.
