Event in Review: New Australian Play Benefit evening – UNDERLAND by Alexandra Collier

The team at terraNova Collective theatre company & AWNY co-hosted a benefit to raise funds for UNDERLAND, a new Australian play that has been developed at Sydney Theatre Company, nominated for the 2014 Weissberger Award and will have its world premiere Off Broadway in Spring 2015 at 59E59.

The play was written by Australian playwright based in Brooklyn, ALEXANDRA COLLIER, and will be directed by MIA ROVEGNO, and guests were treated to a mini-performance by the playwright along with actress Georgia Cohen. The event was packed, with around 80 people gathering at the Garth Greenan Gallery in Chelsea, where Victoria Gitman’s gorgeous collection of handbag oil paintings is on exhibit. Guests indulged in wine, snacks and cocktails that were sponsored and served by Manhattan Cricket Club, and tried their luck in a raffle to win round-trip tickets to Australia donated by Qantas, as well as tickets provided by Disney to Aladdin on Broadway plus a range of other prizes.

If you missed out on the fun, you can still support Aussie talent by getting your ticket to UNDERLAND, which runs from April 3-25. Tickets are available at http://www.terranovacollective.org/underland.html or you can donate to terraNOVA Collective via their donation page (make a note that your donation is for Underland).
