As I write this update, New York is bracing itself for what Mayor De Blasio says could be the “worst snowstorm ever”! And in February, the weather people are predicting temps of -30F…
When you do venture outside your apartment again, here are some great ideas for entertaining your kids from my friend Amanda:
Natural History Museum
Children’s Museum of Manhattan (CMOM)
Check out your local library for events including story time and music
Children’s Art Museum (Soho) – Wee Arts drop in class (http://cmany.org/classes/weearts/)
Ice Skating Central Park
Fao Schwartz
Kid friendly restaurants like Ditch Plains/ Sugar and Plumm
Ballet family series Lincoln Center
And from TimeOut
Catch-up Dinner: 4 February, 7.30pm
Join us for dinner at Serafina, East 79th Street, cnr Madison Avenue on 4 February at 7.30pm! We usually have 20-25 Mums at these dinners, so it’s a great opportunity to make new friends and hear how other Mums are getting the most out of their time in NYC.
If you’d like to attend, please RSVP to awnymumsandbubs@gmail.com or go to our AWNY Mums & Bubs Facebook page to register.
Time Out for Mum!
After being at home all week with the kids, most weekends I need some “me” time to unwind and discover the New York that isn’t accessible, or friendly towards strollers and little ones. Yesterday I went downtown to the Lower East Side to check out the Tenement Museum on Orchard Street (via Eataly for a take-out hot chocolate!). I took the “Hard Times” tour and would highly recommend it. The tour takes you through two apartments and the lives of the original families that lived in them. They have 4-5 tours to choose from and a book shop that has some fantastic books for kids and adults with a New York theme – great source of gifts for family back home!
