It’ s Getting Hot in the City…

Not just thanks to that rising humidity (anyone feel like they are in Bangkok some days?) but all that World Cup fever – hard to escape even for a fashionista who knows nothing about sport.  Shame that the Socceroo’s are out (though they played a damn good game), but then that’s the thing about the World Cup.  It was not lost on me when recently us Aussies (well actually my husband is Chilean) found ourselves in an Argentian bar, in New York, surrounded by a bunch of Brits and Italians and cheering on Old Blighty.  World Cup or not, these kinds of experiences do become part of the buzz that is living in a thriving multi-cultural metropolis like the Big Apple (oh and did I mention naturally we ended up running into some fellow Aussies, who just so happened to be friends of friends in Sydney).  I’m sure you’ve had similar experiences.  The world is small and we’re global travelers these days.

Speaking of which July is set to be a fun month, the Summer holidays have started and many of you will no doubt be jetting off somewhere fabulous (or just happy to stay home and enjoy the city in summer time).  Personally we’ll be spending our first 4th of July in Shelter Island – seaside, sausages and celebrating our new homeland’s independence.  Whatever you’re doing have a great one.  Oh and don’t forget to mark 14 July in the diary to see inspirational Australian finance guru come philanthropist Audette Exel in action speaking about the ISIS Foundation and how she’s singlehandedly helped provide life-saving health care and education for 20,000 people every year in Nepal anUganda (any wonder her efforts are trending online at Bloomberg).  Aussie Aussie Aussie….
