On a stunning October evening, over 60 Australian women gathered at the American Australian Association for our Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Fall Fling. The event space, with its breathtaking sunset views, provided the perfect backdrop for a night of camaraderie, community, and planning for the year ahead.
AWNY Secretary Jenni Gover welcomed co-presidents Sarah McLellan Mee and Toni Wendtmann, who shared insights into AWNY’s mission and the supportive community we’re fostering. Current and new committee leads then presented their teams’ areas of focus and encouraged members to get involved.
Rachelle Grierson and Sarah McLellan Mee continue to lead the Communications team, while Toni Wendtmann and Jenni Glover remain at the helm of the Events team. Giulia Sclabi and Emma Patrick have stepped into the new co-lead positions for Partnerships, and Emily Laurence and Liz Partridge are taking on the co-lead roles for the Families team. BJ Jackson remains in her advisory role as Vice President.
A significant highlight of the evening was the announcement and vote to update the AWNY charter, led by Jenni, who’s also an attorney. We then conducted a successful vote for committee leads who were re-nominated or were newly nominated for the upcoming season.
The AGM provided an opportunity for open discussion about AWNY’s goals for the next year. We’re thrilled to see the enthusiasm and interest from our members, and we’re excited about the exciting initiatives we’ll be undertaking in the coming months.
