Boomerang Bites Opens Gorgeous Signature Bakery in Hoboken

We are delighted to share that our good friend Andrea Rizvi, passionate AWNY supporter and beloved fixture in the NY & NJ Aussie community, has opened a new signature cafe in Hoboken.

The Aussie-style bakery, conveniently located just minutes from Hoboken terminal at Newark and Bloomfield St, is a charming love letter to Australia. From the minute you spot the welcoming gold G’Day above the entryway, everything about the space – from its custom toilet wallpaper replete with emus and wallabies to playful signage surrounding the store to the beautifully curated collection of Aussie merchandise – feels like a warm visit home.

Andrea celebrated the store’s opening with friends, family, and her dedicated women-led team on 19 October, treating guests to a beautiful array of drinks, charcuterie, and an indulgent, endless variety of her signature bites.

The bakery features a broad collection of ‘bites’ based on traditional Aussie ‘slice’ recipes, including classic flavors such as passion fruit and salted choc caramel (along with GF/vegan options). Aussie-style flatbread is also available, with savory cakes and a range of homemade delectable dips, including Beet + Feta, Coriander + Cashew, Pea Pesto, and Sun-Dried Tomato + cream Cheese.

Cold brew and drip coffee from Brooklyn-based Abottsford Road is on offer along with gourmet tea, and younger patrons can enjoy a mini cuppa of hot milo and or a baby chino. In addition to enjoying delicious food and drinks, the bakery and pizza oven, along with the charming backyard patio, are available to hire for events.

A native of Australia, Andrea relocated to Hoboken, NJ, over two decades ago, working in international development and raising her four sons. Wanting to share a slice of home with them, she began baking traditional slice recipes, which became an instant hit.

Since 2018, Andrea has been on a bold mission to bring Aussie slices to New York, New Jersey, and across the US. Starting as a feature at local farmers markets, she has built an online and wholesale business and is thrilled to unveil her signature in-person location.

As an independent woman-owned company, Boomerang Bites espouses the motto of: Be Good, Do Good. As part of her ongoing commitment to supporting communities in need, a portion of all profits go to local causes.
