The cutest little cafe we ever did see, Gertrude are baking small batch, home made, always with orange peel, hot cross buns from late March up to Easter Sunday on April 17th. You can pre-order online (follow on Insta for updates on when pre-orders open) for pick up Friday to Sunday. And there are very limited quantities to purchase daily from Thursday April 14th – Easter Sunday. (UWS – 96th between Amsterdam and Broadway)
Marble Bar Bakery
After owner Clare was featured on Rachel Ray cooking sausage rolls she started the Marble Bar Bakery. A great find for those in the mid-west, pre-order hot cross buns for Easter ($15 for a dozen) are available for pick-up the week of Easter. Choose your buns with or without raisins. TBH we don’t have much intel about these hot cross buns except that this bakery is one stop from Coney Island and claims to make the “best buns in Brooklyn”. Check it out for yourself and report back! (Gravesend, Brooklyn)

Ackroyd’s Scottish Bakery
Michigan-based, Ackroyd’s spiced fruit buns (aka hot cross buns sans cross) are spiced sweet buns made with raisins and candied fruit. You can buy a 4-pack for $18 plus shipping. (Online)

Anyone who has browsed the aisles of a typical New York grocery store, will be familiar with boxed baked goods from Entenmann’s. As Easter approaches, Entenmann’s releases boxed hot cross buns. Check their store locator for a supplier near you.
