Spring has finally arrived and we are all busy getting our little ones out of the house or apartment and into the lovely sunny outdoors.
Over the Easter weekend, we had a rain delay on our annual Easter egg hunt, but it went ahead on Easter Sunday and it was a huge success. Many Aussie families made it up to the River Run playground on the Upper West Side and the eggs were gone in a flash! We even had a squirrel that stole an egg and ran up the tree!
As the weather warms up, there are so many great things happening in the city for you to get out and enjoy with your family, including;
Bronx Zoo – There’s a new exhibit “Dinosaur Safari”. For those kids who love to visit the American Natural History Museum, your kids will also love the new exhibit at the Bronx Zoo, with 40 life-size animatronic dinosaurs. Besides visiting this exhibit, you can also enjoy the rest of the zoo and walk around the 2 acres of the park and see many animals. Tickets for the zoo including the dinosaur exhibit are $39.95 per adult and $29.95 for children aged 3-12. Secret tip: the zoo is free on Wednesdays, but I believe you still need to pay for the special exhibits like the dinosaurs.

Pip’s Island – This is an interactive theatre experience for kids age 4-10. Your kids will join Pip and her friends on an expedition to save the island from the villain. They will be guided through sensorial spaces, engage in live fun challenges and help tell the story. It gets fantastic reviews and I’m taking my kids to see this next week so I will let you know what I think. It’s located in Midtown West. Tickets start from $39. You can also book them through kidpass.com.
Wave Hill – Riverdale’s gorgeous secret gardens are beautiful in the Spring and you feel like you are miles away from NYC! They offer amazing views of the Hudson River and lots of lovely green grass to run and play. The kids will love it! They offer plenty of kid-centered programs including family art projects on the weekend and garden walks. Admission is $10 for adult and $4 for kids age 6-12. Kids Under 6 are free!
