Finally, summer has arrived and this also means school is out for summer break! I love summertime in NYC as the city is a lot more chilled out, a lot of people exit the city for their beach homes in the Hamptons or the Jersey Shore and this means getting a reservation at that sought-after restaurant in Manhattan is a bit easier!
We just returned from a great family holiday in the Bahamas at a new resort complex called Baha Mar. I will write an in-depth review of the resort and post it online. Personally, I like taking a vacay at the beginning of the summer school break and then one just before the kids go back to school. The rest of the summer we stay in the city and enjoy all that is on offer.
There are loads of great water play parks and public and private pools to visit in the city. My favorite water playgrounds for kids include Adventure Playground in Central Park and the kid’s playground at Battery park, Nelson A Rockefeller Park. If you can’t get to a specific playground, I know my kids love a few buckets of water, water balloons and a water gun!

In June, AWNY Mums gathered for a lovely brunch at Gallow Green rooftop area at the McKittrick hotel Chelsea. It was a really great event with 16 ladies relaxing and enjoying good food and great company in a quirky NYC setting.
This is a great spot for a group or family brunch on the weekend. It is a set price of $35pp plus tax and includes a gourmet Buffet style brunch, coffee, and tea. Alcohol is additional.
The next event is our summer drinks on Friday 6 July at Tavern on the Green in Central Park. Whether you are a Mum, Dad or an Aussie in NYC looking for a chilled glass of wine with a lovely group of people, please feel free to join us!

On behalf of the AWNY Committee, we extend a warm welcome to Nakia Gordon, who along with Marion Goss, is the new Lead for the Australian Mums & Dads in NYC Group. A big thank you to former Leads, Amanda and Helen, and we wish them all the best as they continue their adventures upon return to Australia.
