AWNY Mums and Dads Update, May 2018

It’s hot, it’s cold. It’s hot, it’s cold. Welcome to New York’s transition to summer! Oh well, at least we’ve been able to put the winter coats away.  I have a few things for you in the AWNY Mums and Dads Update, May 2018: a quick reminder of the upcoming AWNY mums event, an idea for a fun day out with the kids and an introduction to the new AWNY Mums and Dads lead, Marion Goss.

Rockefeller Playground

I am very excited for our next event; brunch at Gallow Green. Unfortunately, there are no more brunch spots left on the website. Please let us know through the event page on Facebook if you’d still like to come and we’ll see if the venue can make room for any more. Failing that, we have another AWNY Mums event planned for July at Tavern on the Green and there’s no limit to the number of people who can attend. The more the merrier!

Rockefeller Playground

After writing the Central Park Playground Challenge, I was given a few tips of other awesome playgrounds to visit around Manhattan. One of them was the Rockefeller Playground in Rockefeller Park, Battery Park City. (Thank you Angela Tohl)! I have to say that this was a fantastic tip. It is a really entertaining playground with plenty of activities for different levels of ability. There’s sand and really fun sprinklers, plenty of things to climb and netting to bounce on. My two were in heaven. It was only a 10 minute walk from Chambers Street station which has an elevator. It’s very close to clean, new toilets as well as Brookfield Place and more importantly a Shake Shack. So my boys had the perfect day. Massive fang in the playground followed by burger, chips and a milkshake!

Finally, I would like to introduce you to Marion Goss. Marion is taking over from Amanda and I as Lead of AWNY Mums and Dads. Marion is Mum to George, who is nearly two and before moving to New York, she was a massage therapist. She loves visiting different restaurants and is looking forward to finding new and exciting venues for AWNY Mums and Dads Group events!

Feel free to say hello to Marion through the Facebook page or via awny@aaanyc.org. We hope to see you at a future AWNY Mums and Dads Group event.
