What’s on in August…

A short list of things to do and see in NYC this August.

Art

If you are a fan of Cézanne’s you will want to take the short journey down to Philadelphia and see the Barnes Foundation’s new exhibition “The World is an Apple: The Still Lifes of Paul Cézanne.”

Comprising 23 Cézanne masterpieces, The World Is an Apple: The Still Lifes of Paul Cézanne seeks to render succinctly the richness and novelty of still lifes created by an artist of rare intuition and unerring aesthetic sensibility.

The exhibition runs until September 22, 2014. It is highly recommended to pre-purchase tickets. The museum has timed entry and some popular times sell out weeks in advance.

*Insider tip: The Barnes Foundation has live music and a cocktail bar in the foyer on Friday nights.

Food

Summer is the time to eat Lobster rolls! For an “only in NYC” experience, pick up a Lobster roll from Luke’s Lobster at the Plaza Foodhall and head to Central Park for an impromptu picnic.
